Madeira Offers Flame Resistant Thread and Backing Bundle

As safety becomes a significant issue in the workplace, and government standards are set to assure workers' safety, Madeira USA has created an all-inclusive safety bundle for embroiderers serving the flame resistant (FR) marketplace: flame and heat resistant thread, backing and pre-wound bobbins. According to the Laconia, N.H.-based company, which will be showing the new product at ISS Fort Worth Oct. 12-14, this is the first embroidery safety bundle to the market, enabling embroiderers to provide customers with flame resistant logos and/or designs.
   
Made of 100% Aramid, which contains Dupont Nomex fibers, Fire Fighter  
thread is designed specifically for commercial embroidery use and is available in 24 colors. It is heat resistant to 572° F, boasts no melt point and offers the same quality and in-stitch performance as other popular Madeira thread types, according to the company.

FR Bobbin thread also is available, pre-wound, in white, sideless magnetic style "L" bobbins that offer the same thread construction and performance as Fire Fighter. The bobbins are available in blister packs of 10 or boxes of 100, with each bobbin containing 65 yards of Fire Fighter under thread. For those who prefer to wind their own, Fire Fighter bobbin thread also is available in 5,500 yard cones.

Completing the package is Proban 85/FR-7A fire-retardant backing. Made of 100% cotton, it is a woven twill fabric with sateen finish. Madeira stocks black and white rolls, and 10 other colors are available by special order. Four different roll sizes are available for all sized projects.
