Impressions Wins Five GAMMA AwardsMay 1, 2009The Impressions staff recently was honored at the 2009 Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS) GAMMA awards dinner in Atlanta, taking home five awards for editorial excellence. The magazine received recognition in a record five categories, including a gold GAMMA award for Best Service Journalism for “Multitasking Graphics Offer Great Value,” which appeared in the November 2008 issue, and was written by contributor Kim Stryker. Additionally, the Impressions staff was awarded the silver GAMMA award in the “Best Series” category for its series of articles about computer-to-screen systems, appearing in the July 2008, August 2008 and October 2008 issue, all written by Greg Kitson, founder and president, Mind’s Eye Graphics, Decatur, Ind. Impressions also won two bronze GAMMA awards in two categories, including “General Excellence,” as well as the Best Essay category for “On Pricing...Again,” appearing in the September 2008 issue, written by Marcia Derryberry, editor in chief. Finally, Impressions won an honorable mention GAMMA award in the “Best Feature” category for “Digital Tunes & T’s,” written by contributor Deborah Sexton in the March 2008 issue. All entries in this year’s competition were judged by a distinguished panel of national magazine editors, art directors and journalism professors.
