Advansa Introduces Innovative Fiber Technology with Eco-Friendly Option
July 24, 2008
Advansa, a European manufacturer of polyester fiber and yarn, recently introduced a unique thermoregulation fiber to the U.S. market. ThermoCool, which debuted at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market last month, is specifically designed for performance sports apparel and footwear. “The special hybrid fiber blend enables evaporative cooling when wearers perspire plus thermo-buffering to maintain a comfortable body temperature,” says Gerard Illeras, Advansa’s active sportswear market manager.
ThermoCool is offered in an eco-friendly version, which uses a polymer derived from renewable resources such as corn instead of traditional petrochemical derivatives. “By replacing traditional petrochemicals with renewable resources and biological processes, we are a step closer to building a renewable economy,” says Illeras.
ThermoCool provides moisture and temperature control across a range of temperatures and activity levels. It is designed with maximum surface area and micro-channels to transport moisture quickly away from the skin, and its hollow interior enhances air circulation and focuses energy on the heat transfer process to maximize evaporative cooling. In cold weather, the fabric’s fiber channels provide lightweight thermo-buffering properties. — H.H.
