| Instant Imprints Canada, located in Mississauga, Ontario, is one of Instant Imprints' 100 franchise stores located in North America. Instant Imprints Canada also has plans to role out stores in Toronto and Oakville soon. |
Instant Imprints, San Diego, is restructuring its franchise framework to instigate major growth for the future, according to Leo Kats, president. The company, which is opening 15 stores this year despite the grueling economy, has roughly 100 stores in North America and is taking several initiatives to accommodate major expansion in the next three to five years.
Instant Imprints has a lineup of new investors and upper-level management slated for this year, and also plans to realign how it supports its franchises. The company’s recent digital initiatives include iDesign, which allows customers to create designs online then contact a local store for fulfillment, and iStore, an online marketing solution that allows franchisees to offer customizable storefronts to their customers.
Kats says many of his franchise owners have seen an improvement over last year, citing this year as “business as usual so far.” To support his owners, Kats challenges them to look at the bigger picture: “With our current economy, I tell the owners to focus on the hot markets such as alternative energy and political promotions instead of colder markets like real estate.” — H.H.
