Saying Goodbye to a MasterJune 26, 2009
The industry lost a pioneer and great friend yesterday with the passing of Spider. Spider was an award-winning artist who touched the lives of many screen printers through his work. He transitioned from using traditional techniques of producing art to being on the cutting-edge of computer-generated graphic design. His book, "Can Do Art," was one of the first resources that many screen printers turned to for expert advice in what became the exploding imprinted sportswear market. Years ago, he was a frequent contributor to Impressions and the Imprinted Sportswear Shows and last spoke at ISS Long Beach in 2005, which marked his 50th year in the industry. Impressions also was fortunate enough to have his work grace our cover in the early '90s. He contributed to this industry in many ways, and is remembered for his kindness, creativity and for introducing countless entrepreneurs to this exciting business. Spider's gentle manner and patient demeanor in sharing his knowledge will be remembered for decades to come. Rest peacefully, old friend. RECENT INDUSTRY NEWS HEADLINES
