Impressions Wins Three GAMMA AwardsMay 12, 2008The Impressions staff was honored recently at the 2008 Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS) annual conference and GAMMA awards presentation. The magazine received recognition for its editorial excellence in three categories, including a bronze GAMMA award in the "General Excellence" category. Additionally, the Impressions staff was awarded a bronze GAMMA for Best Service Journalism for its package of articles written in the October 2007 issue about the emphasis on eco-friendly and sustainable decorating practices and apparel. Articles of distinction within that issue include "The Eco Explosion," written by Emily Walzer, contributor; "'Green' Printing Uses Sustainable Methods and Materials," written by Michael Beckman, research and development manager, European T-Shirt Factory (ETF), Istanbul, Turkey; and "Tackling Water-based Inks for the First Time," written by Jeff Proctor of Union Ink Co., Ridgefield, N.J. Impressions also won a bronze GAMMA award for Best Feature, with Beckman's "'Green' Printing Uses Sustainable Methods and Materials" garnering honors. More than 450 entries were submitted in this year's competition, which was judged by a distinguished panel of national magazine editors, art directors and journalism professors.
