Travel Buddy Journeys to ISS SchaumburgAug 4, 2008
The Travel Buddy is a 50" x 60" blanket attached to a 12" x 16" pillow made of non-pill fleece. It originated as an item that moms could make and then have their kids sell as part of a fundraiser. “It didn't develop into a fundraiser as intended (yet), but the idea was so good that I started a company, patented and trademarked it and developed two other buddy sizes in addition to the original,” says Laura Oxholm, president of Twin Bay Treasures. The Travel Buddy Jr. is for ages five to 10, and The Cubby Buddy is for newborns to age four. Touted as the "pillow and blanket in one for comfort on the run," adults have shown as much interest in the item as kids, according to Oxholm. “[With the Travel Buddy], there’s no more freezing in the passenger seat while you're trying to rest as your spouse is just right in the driver's seat,” she adds. "There’s no more collecting all of your carry-on items into a pillow when you're sleeping on the airport terminal floor because your flight was delayed or cancelled.” Twin Bay Treasures will exhibit in booth #833 at ISS Schaumburg, Aug. 7-9. — H.H.
