PPEF Awards $100,000 in College Scholarships

June 25, 2009

Promotional Products Association Intl.’s (PPAI) Promotional Products Education Foundation (PPEF), Irving, Texas, recently announced the recipients of $100,000 awarded in college scholarships for 2009. The scholarships, which were awarded to 73 recipients, were presented in three categories: four-year college scholarship for academic excellence and achievement; chairman’s college scholarship; and one-year college scholarship. All the scholarships were available to promotional products industry employees or their dependents.

The four-year college scholarship for academic excellence and achievement was available to students with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 who are entering a four-year accredited college or university as a freshman in fall 2009. PPEF awarded this scholarship to 10 recipients, who will receive $4,000 ($1,000 annually for four years) in aid. The scholarship is renewable each year for four years if the student meets the minimum GPA requirement and current employment in the promotional products industry is maintained by the student or parent.

The chairman’s college scholarship was available to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who are “entering their junior year of college, actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an academic field related to promotional products and expressing a clear intent to enter the promotional products industry after graduation,” according to PPEF. The scholarship was awarded to two recipients, who will receive $5,000 ($2,500 annually for two years). The scholarship is renewable for the junior and senior years of college, provided that the student meets the minimum GPA requirement and current employment in the promotional products industry is maintained by the student or parent.

The one-year college scholarship was available to students attending a two-year or four-year accredited undergraduate college or university who “take at least six credit hours per semester and have a minimum GPA of 3.0,” according to PPEF. The scholarship was awarded to 61 recipients, who will receive $1,000 in nonrenewable aid.
