Performancewear Adds UV Protection, Embraces FashionJan 10, 2008
"We continue to see strong interest in performance moisture-management shirts and additional features such as UV protection that are built into the fabric," says Mike Chen marketing director, Tonix, Fremont, Calif. According to Chen, Tonix will introduce six new performance sports shirts at ISS Long Beach this month, including what he describes as an ultra-soft, three-button placket baseball umpire shirt constructed with moisture-management fabric and incorporating UV protection. The Umpire #838 will be available in four color combinations in sizes S to 4XL. In addition, the company is offering a new ladies sleeveless moisture-management shirt with a refined cut that Chen says is better suited for a woman’s shape. The Challenger #808 features ribbed collar and arm holes, princess seams and contrast reverse stitching. Chen also says Tonix is responding to the increased interest in embroidery decorations for the center chest vs. the traditional left chest location. "We are introducing a new long sleeve performance shirt, the Forward #858, that has a stitching design on the center chest beneath the neck that is perfect for embroidery," he says. This garment also features tagless labeling, and colorfast, stain-release fabric. — R.L. RECENT INDUSTRY NEWS HEADLINES
