Anvil Receives 10,000th Oeko-Tex Certificate

December 17, 2009

The International Oeko-Tex Association recently announced that its 10,000th Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate of the year has been issued to Anvil Knitwear, New York.

The certification ensures that textile products are tested to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances that are believed to be dangerous to humans. Anvil received the certification for its AnvilOrganic sport shirt, making the entire AnvilOrganic apparel line and more than 25 other conventional styles Oeko-Tex Standard certified.

"Oeko-Tex certification is an important part of our overall product safety and integrity strategy," says Anthony Corsano, CEO, Anvil. "By making sure our products do not contain harmful substances, we are demonstrating our commitment to our consumers, our customers, our workforce and the communities in which we live and work."

Oeko-Tex presented the 10,000th certificate to Chris Binnicker, Anvil's vice president of textiles, at its "Sustainability: Impacting Policy and the Future of Apparel and Textiles" event, which was held Dec. 14. The event was part of the "Insight on What's Next" textile and apparel industry roundtable discussion series that Oeko-Tex sponsors with Textile Insight Magazine.
