CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 Released

March 17, 2010

Corel Corp., Ottawa, Ontario, recently introduced CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5, the newest edition of its package of professional graphics applications.

The newest version features more than 50 new and enhanced features, including upgrades to asset and color management, Web graphics, various learning resources and more content than ever before, according to the company. Trial and electronic versions are now available for download, and the product will start shipping before the end of March in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Dutch.

CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 includes the new Corel Connect, an application that synchronizes with both CorelDraw and Corel Photo-Paint to provide quick access to content on a computer, network or disc. Graphics Suite X5 also provides access to 10,000 clipart files, 1,000 high-resolution, royalty-free images, 1,000 fonts, 2,000 vehicle templates and 350 design templates, according to the company.

"We believe we've delivered a product that enables our current users to discover new possibilities with the suite, while allowing new users to get up and running quickly and create projects with confidence," says Gerard Metrailler, senior director of product management, Corel.

The new and enhanced tools in Graphics Suite X5 enable more precision and experimentation. For example, the Mesh Fill tool has been enhanced to help users design multi-colored filled objects with more fluid color transitions. Other new or upgraded tools include the B-Spline tool, scalable arrowheads, Connector and Dimension tools, and the new Segment Dimension tool.

Users of Graphics Suite X5 also will find a reinvented color-management system, easy output capabilities to multiple formats, a full-color guidebook and video tutorials to help jumpstart projects.
