Pony Xpress Debuts ‘UV Tee’August 05, 2010
Called “UV Tee”, the specialty ink and design process adds a new dimension to the designs that the company does for its clients, says Jeff Henderson, principal partner, Pony Xpress Printing. “This is something completely new that can be used in so many ways,” he says. “It’s really up to the imagination of our customers and the talent of our on-staff designers to come up with something that shows off the brand.” The UV-reactive inks are available in myriad colors and can be combined with traditional ink that remains a constant in the design. The UV-reactive inks appear and disappear in direct sunlight. Colors transform in less than 15 seconds after being exposed to sunlight, and return to clear in as little as 15 minutes in the absence of sunlight, according to the company. The effect can be used to achieve maximum impact for a company’s message. For example, leaves can appear and disappear on a tree. School logos and mascots can go from black and white to full color. Company logos or slogans that are invisible indoors can stand out in the sunlight. “It’s about making about making promotional wear that is cutting-edge and more collectible than the typical ‘freebie’ shirt, Henderson says.
