Printing Record Broken at ISS Fort WorthOctober 20, 2010
Viera broke the previous record of 1,805 shirts, set in 2005 by Maddie Sikorski. Gildan Activewear, St. Michael, Barbados, provided the shirts used for the contest. The design that was printed, “Rooted In Hope,” was submitted by Kristen Redfearn of Marketing Communications Inc., Thomasville, Ga. Her design was chosen as the winner of Gildan’s 5-5-5 Chari-T design contest. “When we first scheduled this event, I said that a new record would require a phenomenal press, high-quality, easy-to-load shirts and an extraordinary operator,” says Rich Hoffman, CEO, M&R. “We knew going in that the Challenger III could index faster than a human being could load, and we knew Gildan would provide top-quality shirts, so it was all up to Omar. “We knew he was an elite press operator, but we also knew everything would have to go perfectly if Omar had a chance at a new record,” Hoffman continues. “Fortunately, everything fell into place.” For more information, visit mrprint.com. — J.L.
