Screen Printing Tip of the Week: Suede AdditiveNovember 23, 2011By Kieth Stevens, Contributing Writer Suede additive is a great “tool” in a screen printer’s arsenal to add interest to a printed design. Create brushed leather-like patches or matte finishes simply and quickly. Suede or dulling additive can matte (or dull) the surface of a print or create a suede-like texture, simply by varying the quantity added to an ink. For a matte finish simply add 2% (by weight) of the suede additive. To create a suede look, add 10% to 15% (by weight). Kieth Stevens is the Western regional sales manager for International Coatings.
