Workrite Uniform Co., Trion, Ga., developed a Dickies denim jean line using Mount Vernon’s flame-resistant (FR) fabric.
The Dickies FR collection features a 13-ounce FR fabric called Mustang Flex. According to the company, it adds mobility without reducing protection for comfort and range of motion. The elastomeric fiber is intended to eliminate sagging or bagging in the jeans.
The Dickies FR jeans are available in two washes, with a relaxed, contemporary fit. The jeans meet the performance requirements of ASTM F1506, comply with NFPA 70E and are UL® certified to NFPA 2112.
“We always aim to provide consumers with garments that not only meet their needs for protection from hazards such as electric arc flash or flash fire, but also accommodate the comfort they want and deserve,” says Mark Saner, technical manager at Workrite Uniform Co. “Working with Mount Vernon FR has allowed us to create flame-resistant clothing that offers the best of both worlds without tradeoffs in comfort, durability or protection.” — M.Q.
