FULL STORYHanes, Winston-Salem, N.C., will donate 150,000 pair of socks at various Salvation Army locations across the country this holiday season.
Including this year’s donation, Hanes has donated a total of 1.5 million pairs of socks since 2009, according to the company.
To encourage others to donate, Hanes will place a link on its website, hanes.com through Dec. 31 that will allow consumers to donate directly to The Salvation Army at https://bit.ly/TSADonation.
Also, Hanes will join with the #GivingTuesday initiative, a global day dedicated to giving back, to donate socks and document the plight of those in need as temperatures drop.
Hanes is donating socks in partnership with homeless advocate Mark Horvath as he documents the homelessness issue in New York City. As the founder of Invisible People, an advocacy group for the homeless, Horvath has worked with Hanes for three years in an effort to raise awareness of America’s homelessness issue.
Horvath and Hanes partnered to develop a social content series that shines a spotlight on the homelessness issue in New York City through Vine videos and still imagery. The series features the faces and stories of the homeless and the important role socks play in day-to-day survival.
To share a story about providing comfort this holiday season or to join the conversation, follow #HanesforGood throughout the holiday season.
