Stahls’ Plays Detroit Red Wings In Charity Hockey Game

February 5, 2016

A team of employees and executives from Stahls’, St. Clair Shores, Mich., faced off against a squad of former Detroit Red Wing players in a Jan. 30 charity ice hockey game benefiting the Clark Park Coalition.

The game, which was played at Detroit’s Clark Park Ice Rink, was part of the annual The Frozen Fish Fiasco outdoor hockey series. The Red Wings edged out Stahls’ with a 9-8 score.

Three of Ted and Mary Stahl’s children — Dan, Trevor and Kari — were on the team. The Stahls’ team also enlisted the services of Olympic Gold Medalist and St. Clair Shores native Mark Wells as coach.

Participating Red Wings alumni included Darren McCarty, Peter Klima and Mickey Redmond.

All of the funds raised from the event went to the Clark Park Coalition, which partners with Detroit to maintain and operate the Clark Park Ice Rink, while also keeping it and its various year-round programs open and thriving.

The 2015 event drew 1,500 spectators to the park, which is located at 1130 Clark Ave. in southwest Detroit. Stahls’, an NHL licensee and a manufacturer of garment decoration equipment for professional, college and high school sports leagues, served as the title sponsor of this year’s event.
